and Stereotypes
The assumption that seems
to apply with the cast of ladies from Basketball Wives is that by engaging in
the ritual of marriage they would live happily ever after. The fantasy of
marrying a celebrity athlete and enjoying the rich and famous life sometimes
clouds the reality of what the marriage may bring. Often they are left to deal
with stereotype of an athlete that has multiple affairs, and also having numerous
children with other women, which can often be the case.
In some of the cases
of the women form the cast they never made it down the aisle, but they still believed
in the popular culture ritual that because they had a child by a celebrity they
eventually would get married.
These ladies and the
stories they tell help people gain an insight to their life that marrying a
celebrity and even having a child with one may not end with happily ever after.
